John Gavrilis Photography Posters, Prints and Images Information
John Gavrilis is to color photography what Ansel Adams is to black and white photography.
Like Ansel Adams, John Gavrilis has photographed some of the most remarkable nature scenes in America.
I especially like his extensive use of the Colorado River and the landscape around
the river including the Grand Canyon and Lake Powell.
Some of his best selling pieces include
Calf Creek Falls, Mooney Falls in the Grand Canyon,
Havasu Falls, Gunsight Butte-Lake Powell,
Sunburst, Sunrise Reflection,
Lower Falls in Yellowstone,
North Window in Arches National Park,
Marshall Head Lighthouse,
Superstition Bloom,
Yellow Lupine in Carmel (we have more Carmel posters
on our Carmel Posters page),
Monument Valley, Dead Horse Point on the Colorado River,
North Window, Bass Harbor
and Horseshoe Bend on the Colorado River.
The Gunsight Butte-Lake Powell piece is special to me because it reminds me of a family
trip we took to Lake Powell when I was a kid.
I have also visited the Grand Canyon many
times and John Gavrilis does as good a job as anyone in capturing
the beauty of the canyon.
Our Grand Canyon Posters
section shows Grand Canyon pieces by Gavrilis and other artists.
The Horseshoe Bend poster really caught my eye.
Looking at maps I can see we were very close to the area when we visited Lake Powell.
The Colorado River Horseshoe Bend is
just South of the Arizona border
and the Glen Canyon Damn of Lake Powell.
It is on the West side of hwy 89 between mile 545 and 544 (a couple miles South of Page).
I hope to see it in person someday soon. Everything I have read about the
hike makes it seem as if it is relatively simple to get to the view from the highway.
