Featured Photography Areas In and Around California
Anaheim Pictures -
Home to the Anaheim Angeles and the Mighty Ducks, Anaheim is a major force for sports in California.
The Angels had a tremendous year in 2002.
They started the playoffs by coming back from a one game to none deficit to the Yankees to win the best of the 5 game series.
After beating the Yankees, the Angels faced the Twins in the ALCS.
Adam Kennedy played 3,5,7 as he homered in the 3rd, 5th and 7th innings of the last game versus the twins.
Kennedy's 3 homers helped the Angels come from behind in the last game against the Twins to win the ALCS and move on to the World Series for the first time in franchise history.
Beating the Giants in game 7 of the World Series, the Angels had a remarkable year.
Anaheim's Disneyland is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Los Angeles basin.
It brings many visitors to Anaheim every year.
Our site has various photographs from Disneyland in Anaheim which is said to be "the happiest place on earth."
Some of the Disneyland photographs include the Main Entrance, the Main Street U.S.A. Parade and the Disneyland Castle.
The park is broken up into the following sections: Tommorowland, Fantasyland, Mickey's Toon Town, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, Adventureland and Main Street USA.
There are many famous rides like Space Mountain in Tomorrowland.
Space Mountain is especially scary because it is not only a roller coaster but everything is pitch black since it is supposed to be in space(no lights).
Another notable ride is the roller coaster on the Manahorn.
The Manahorn Mountain can be seen all the way from the 5 freeway.
Other rides are Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Carribean and the Monorail.
Our Disneyland pictures give you the sense of being at the "happiest place on earth" without having to wait in the lines.
Beverly Hills Pictures -
Famous for the superb shopping, Beverly Hills has a great deal of luxury to offer travelers.
Rodeo Drive is known throughout the world for the fantastic shops and we made sure some of these establishments were captured in our photos.
Tiffany & Co. is shown on our site as are other parts of the infamous Rodeo Drive.
Beverly Hills has a great deal of beauty that can be seen by taking a tour of the city.
The TV series, "Beverly Hills 90210" made young people throughout the world exposure to the area.
The Hard Rock Cafe outside the Beverly Center is adjacent to Beverly Hills and we have an excellent photograph from outside the front door.
We also have a nice shot of the Cactus Garden in Beverly Hills which is right off Santa Monica Blvd.
In a park east of the Cactus Garden, we captured the Drummer Statue on film.
Even City Hall shows signs of luxury which can be seen in our photo.
The Global Crossing Ltd shows some of the architecture in Beverly Hills and the fountain in the courtyard is magnificent.
Our picture of the Architect's Handkerchief sculpture shows some of the artwork in the city.
Even the gas stations in Beverly Hills are fancy, a perfect example is the fancy canopy over the 76 station in one of our photos.
Eddie Murphy brought some attention to the area in the comedy movie, "Beverly Hills Cop."
Our pictures from Beverly Hills show that even City Hall has a luxurious feeling.
Catalina Island Pictures -
Catalina is only about 20 miles off shore from San Pedro.
However, those 20 miles can seem like more when the sea is choppy(and the water between the mainland and Catalina can get pretty rough).
I've been fortunate enough to travel to the island 4 different ways(by sea plane, helicopter, the Catalina Express and a private sail boat).
The sea planes are no longer in service but regular planes can be flown to the island airport.
Visitors taking the bus from the airport down to Avalon are sometimes lucky enough to see the Buffalo roaming around on the island.
There seems to be a Buffalo theme on the island as tourists can order Buffalo burgers for lunch at the Avalon pier.
Most of the action in Avalon is near the pier from the glass bottom boat tours to the bicycle and golf cart rentals.
The glass bottom boat tour is a special treat, especially when the orange garabaldi and the flying fish can be seen.
We have photos from various parts of Avalon and the famous Ballroom Casino can be seen in the background of more than one of our photos.
The Catalina Island pictures show the contrast of a peaceful island less than 30
miles from one of the largest urban areas in the world.
Downtown Los Angeles Pictures -
One of the most striking buildings in Los Angeles is the Bonaventure Hotel which is famous for the glass elevators seen in movies such as "True Lies".
The Westin Bonaventure Hotel is located at 404 South Figueroa and it was built in 1976. It has 4 glass elevator cylinders that rise 32 stories. The hotel is one of the biggest in Los Angeles, it even has an indoor lake.
Our picture of the hotel shows that it is visible from the busy 110 freeway.
The Lakers moved from the Forum in Inglewood to the Staples Center in Downtown Los Angeles right before winning their first championship with Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant.
We have some nice pictures of the Staples Center from the night of a Lakers game.
The Los Angeles Marathon Mural is located in Downtown LA on the 110 freeway and we show it in a photograph.
The famous Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is also captured on film on our site.
There are tons of pictures from Downtown Los Angeles on this site. Be sure to check out
all the links from the main Downtown LA Page.
Hollywood Pictures -
Considered by many to be the entertainment capitol of the world, Hollywood is famous for movies, bands, movie stars and comedians.
The Hollywood Sign is an icon and one of the most photographed signs in the world. Our site would not be complete without a photo of this famous landmark.
The original sign built in 1923 actually said HOLLYWOODLAND. The city took control of the sign in 1939 and shortened it to HOLLYWOOD by taking off the LAND at the end.
We also have pictures of El Capitan Theatre, The Pantages Theatre and the Paladium.
Finally, we show some of the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Pictures featuring the Hollywood Sign are recognized around the world. Our site
would not be complete if we did not have our Hollywood Sign Picture.
Las Vegas and Other Gambling Spots Pictures -
Las Vegas is approximately 270 miles from Los Angeles.
Many people visiting L.A. take some extra time to visit Vegas as well because it is just inside Nevada where gambling is legal.
Driving to Las Vegas from LA is fairly easy in terms of directions. The important freeway is the I-15 North. One can get to the I-15 from LA by taking the I-10 East or the 60 East.
The site 21Ace.com has a nice Las Vegas page with pictures of Las Vegas, Lake Mead and Hoover Dam.
One can find plenty of gambling without even leaving the Los Angeles area.
Our Hollywood Park Pictures in the Inglewood Section show that people do not have to leave LA to gamble.
Pasadena Pictures -
We have images of Castle Green, The Gamble House, The Tournament of Roses House and Old Town.
Home to the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl, Pasadena attracts a lot of attention every New Years.
UCLA started playing their home football games at the Rose Bowl after leaving the Coliseum.
Fans park on the holes of the public Brookside Golf Course when attending UCLA home football games.
The Dallas Cowboys led by Troy Aikman, Emmit Smith and Michael Irvin defeated the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVII at the Rose Bowl in 1993.
We have a picture from the Rose Bowl showing the Super Bowl XXVII Sign in the background.
The Norton Simon Museum is on Colorado on the Rose Bowl Parade route and we have a picture of it on one of the Pasadena Pages.
Every New Years pictures from Pasadena are seen throughout the world due to the Rose Parade.
Many of the pictures on www.LAPhotos.com are organized by geographic area.
For example, the LA Arboretum is actually in Arcadia and Disneyland is located in Anaheim.
The Sightseeing Table allows you to look for pictures by name like
LA Arboretum/Disneyland or by city like Arcadia/Anaheim.
Los Angeles Aerial Pictures
We have aerial photographs by Joel Sprague.
He took the aerial photos on Feb 06, 2003 while flying in
Tim's Bonanza plane. The aerial images are excellent quality.
They show detailed views of Santa Monica, Marina Del Rey,
LAX, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach
and Palos Verdes. The aerial photos take a long time
to load(because they're large, high quality files) but
the wait is well worth it.
